Pam & Dyalekt Get Shamele$s

What happens when you combine a financial planner and a Hip Hop educator?

You find a new path towards financial liberation

Hey, we’re Pam & Dyalekt and we’ve been doing this a while.

After two decades of studying Hip Hop pedagogy, personal finance, racial economic inclusion, and interpersonal neurobiology (the study of how we are hurt and how we heal in relationships - yes it’s as awesome and deep as it sounds), here’s what we know is true:

❤️‍🩹 Money is emotional

Every decision you make around money starts in your nervous system. How we spend our money represents our values, feelings, and state of mind.

📉 The game is rigged

If most of us are struggling financially, if most of us are having mental health issues, it’s not you, it’s the system. We can only fight it if we acknowledge it’s there.

🌈 You are not bad at money

There is no such thing as being “good” or “bad” at money. You make decisions based on what will make you feel safe in the moment and that is okay. When you can find safety in other ways, your habits will change.

💅🏽 Wants are needs too

Wants fulfill our emotional needs and when you give yourself permission to want things and get them, your willpower gets replenished and you can feel like yourself.

🔮 Savings is your crystal ball

You cannot envision the future unless nervous system feels safe in the present. When you save money, you give yourself permission to imagine what’s possible and see into your future, literally.

Our programs integrate Hip Hop pedagogy, interpersonal neurobiology, culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices, and CFP®-level financial concepts that include a racial wealth equity/economic justice lens.

All these elements together give you the spaciousness you need to heal your relationship with money and build generational wealth.

Pam & Dyalekt Get Shameless: The Community Chest

For artists and creatives who are ready to get shameless about money, we’ve put together something just for you! It’s a community chest full of action steps, hidden financial treasures, life-giving inspiration, and financial knowledge.

Join the Community Chest for free and get access to:

  • We are tired of listening to podcasts that talk about huge systemic issues and offer no solutions. It's like talking about the issues as if we've already lost. All our youtube/podast episodes include practical steps for what you, as an individual, as a human being, can do take action, change your habits, and shift the paradigm. Chat with Pam & Dyalekt in the comments and get prompts, checklists, and guides to help you go beyond the episode. It's a Community Chest full of action steps.

  • Not financial tasks, financial side quests - A side quest is an activity that is done in addition to another activity and is less important than it. Because opening an IRA or paying down your debt or anything else on your financial to do list is NOT THE REAL WORK. The financial stuff will happen when your nervous system is calm enough to remind you that you’re worth it. Once per month, we'll release a video on a financial topic for you to accomplish, as you wish. It's a Community Chest full of hidden financial treasures.

  • Get monthly art and journal prompts to help you explore and deepen your relationship with money. Record a video, perform a monologue, write a poem, write a prose piece, draw or paint, choreograph a dance, interview each other, and most importantly, share it with each other. We'll also invite featured guest artists to explore with us. As a creator, one of your superpowers is your ability to simplify complicated feelings and ideas for others. It's a Community Chest full of life-giving inspiration.

  • Yes, every single digital product in the Get Shamele$s Shop is FREE.99 for all members. Get access to our entire library of course e-books, checklists, worksheets, and calculators - a culmination of all our learnings and teachings all in one place and all the new ones we release throughout the year. It's a Community Chest full of financial knowledge.

Why Hip Hop Pedagogy?

Don't worry, we won't be teaching you any raps about compound interest or a dance for how to remember which bills to pay each month.

There is a huge focus in Hip Hop education on understanding your identity in relation to the whole. By connecting Hip Hop and Finance, you not only begin to understand yourself and your relationship with money, but also how to build financial habits that resonate with your personal identity and how you learn and process information.

Hip Hop culture is inherently inclusive, community-focused, and entrepreneurship-led.

When you start to see how your skills and talents can benefit your community and those around you, talking about money is no longer a source of shame. It becomes a conversation about tools, strategies, and resources you can share and how your unique experiences and identity contribute to the big picture.

When we start the personal finance conversation from a place that is rooted in the principles and philosophies of Hip Hop, we are using a shared language that makes everyone in the room feel heard and understood.

(Oh, and you may also learn how to beatbox.)

Some wonderful feedback we’ve received from our workshops and programs (We’re blushing 😊)
